The Outreach committee plans and implements a number of projects every year as well supervising an outreach budget for the parish which in 2006 was over $29,000 in total. In addition, they maintain connections with diocesan, national and overseas groups who work with those in need. All parishioners are encouraged to help in any way they can.

Parish projects

Support for refugees has been an important focus for the work of the Outreach Committee supported by many parish members.    We have recently sponsored a refugee from Iraq (arrived in 2004) and currently sponsor a Somali family.

Christmas baskets

This seasonal project is enthusiastically supported by individuals, families and groups in the parish. The baskets include food for the season and staples, as well as Christmas gifts for each member of the family. The majority of our baskets go to families recommended by inner city schools.

National Projects

Honouring Our Commitment
The parish has been very supportive of this national church program. Making reparation for the damage caused by the Indian Residential school system has been taken seriously.

Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund
Many of our parishioners support this national Anglican church endeavour weekly or monthly, and many more support their special relief programs to meet situations such as the Asian Tsunami or the Pakistan earthquake. The PWRDF, working closely with other church agencies, has on-the-ground people in many countries who work chiefly in villages assisting with self-help projects such as setting up small businesses, sinking wells, building schools etc. In the many emergency situations to which PWRDF responds and then asks for help from the churches, the amount of money raised is matched by the Canadian government. The Outreach committee has a PWRDF representative who keeps us up-to-date about that work.

International Projects

Stephen Lewis Foundation
This Canadian foundation supports the work of Stephen Lewis in Africa. His focus is on support for caring of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and on improving the life of women in that country.

Foster Parent Plan
Four children are presently supported under this plan. Families from the Church School correspond with the individual children and information can be found on the Outreach bulletin board.

East Africa Projects

Currently we support community based health and education projects in  Muanza, Tanzania,  and  Olkoroi, Kenya.
