St. Philip's has a long history of involving lay people in worship. If you would like to be involved in any of the following areas, please call the church office at 604 224 3238
The Liturgical Advisory Council
At the call of the Rector this council provides an opportunity for anyone in the parish to comment about services and to make suggestions concerning worship.
Altar Guild
A team from this dedicated group prepares the church for the regular services on Sundays, week-days and for Holy Days such as Christmas and Easter.
Altar Flowers
Arrangements for the placing of flowers in memory of loved ones is coordinated by a special member of the Altar Guild.
Servers Guild
Several young people in the parish assist by taking turns leading the procession and serving at the altar.
Greeters
This group consists of parishioners who welcome everyone to church on Sunday morning at either the 10.00am service.
Sidesmen
These men ensure that everyone has a leaflet to follow the service, take up the collection and give any help needed.
Readers
Members of this group take turns reading the appropriate passages from the Bible each week.
Prayer leaders
These people prepare and lead the Prayers of the People at each parish service.
Choir
The choir sings at the 10.00am service every Sunday. Practices are on Thursdays at 7:30pm.
Musicians
The Band, an energetic group of mixed ages, plays a variety of instruments for the "intergenerational" Service on occasional Sundays at 10.00am.
Lay Administrators
A number of people are licensed to assist the clergy with the giving of communion at various services.
Healing Prayers
Members of this group assist with the prayers for individual concerns which are part of the Sunday and Wednesday services.
Coffee Hour Hosts
Every Sunday following the 10.00am service, two or three people make and serve tea and coffee on the date they have chosen.
Sunday Transport for Seniors
Parishioners provide rides for those in need of transport to church and back.
