What is there to know about your new Priest in Charge?
By now many of you will have realised that I didn’t grow up in Canada! I am a proud Shropshire lass, a rural county in England that is right on the Welsh Border.
I moved to Canada in 2013. I was ordained in 1999 and have worked in parish ministry for most of that time.
Since being in Canada I have served at Christ Church Cathedral, St Clements, Lynn Valley and St Mark’s, Ocean Park. I have also been archdeacon or two separate Archdeaconries and I am currently Chair of the Mission and Ministry Committee. I also serve alongside the Bishops in writing and updating all of the Covid protocols for the Diocese.
Aside from my ministry as a parish priest and work for the wider Diocese, I find time to engage in a variety of recreational activities. I am keen but very amateur landscape photographer, discovering the trails of the West Coast has given me many opportunities to capture the stunning mountains, ocean and rivers. I love the trail along the Alouette river, close to where I live in Coquitlam.
When Covid allows, I make the most of opportunities to dine out with friends and family, sampling a wonderful diversity of cuisines available.
As the mother of a 13 year old competitive Irish Dancer, I am also a chauffeur and costume coordinator.
At home I enjoy jewellery making, crafting, pottering around in the garden, baking Christmas cakes, reading novels and watching films as well looking after slightly too many pets.
I’m enjoying getting to know the folks of St Philip’s. People have been very kind and friendly so far! I know I won’t be with you for too long but please feel free to call or email me to introduce yourself!
