Centennial Celebrations!

- St. Philip's year of celebrations got off to a great start on Sunday, February 9th as organist Michael Murray directed soloists, three choirs, two bands and a packed church for The Beatles Sing-Along. Donations went to the organ fund.
- St. Philip's Centennial Speakers Series started on Saturday, March 1 with a presentation by Elizabeth May, O.C.: "The Power Working in Us." Donations at the door went to Apathy is Boring and Help Lesotho
- John Helliwell, one of the founders of the World Happiness Report, spoke April 4th on Caring and Sharing: A Global Analysis of Happiness and Kindness. Donors raised $2250 to go to local families facing food insecurity.
- Saturday, May 3 - Centennial Trivia Night
- Sunday, May 4 - St. Philip's Day Patronal Festival with Archbishop John Stephens.
- Monday, May 12 - "Out from the Centre" Centennial Walking Tour with local historian John Atkin
- Thursday May 15 - Lord Byng Secondary Choirs celebrated their centenary and ours. Many parishioners and/or their children are Lord Byng grads. Donations at the door went to the choir program.
Mark your calendars with these planned events celebrating our Centennial year:
- Sunday, June 1, 4:00 pm. Piano Trio Centennial Concert by Trio Adiantum: Jenny Essers, violin; Brian Mix, cello; Martha Brickman, piano perform Haydn, Beethoven and Alexander. Admission by donation at the door from 3:30 pm.
- Sunday, September 7 - Morning Worship with Guest Preacher Reverend Dr. Richard Topping, principal of Vancouver School of Theology, 10:00 a.m. (details pending)
- Saturday, September 13, 10:00-12:00 - To Everything There is a Season series on end of life issues (details pending)
- Sunday, October 5, 4:00 pm - Centennial Evensong with Community Reception (details pending)
