Rev. Lorne Manweiler was Rector of St. Philip's from October 2021 to October 2024.
Rev. Lorne grew up in the Okanagan and attended UBC, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Genetics, with a minor in Psychology.
He went on to earn a Master of Divinity and a Theological Diploma at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton.
He was ordained into the Lutheran church in 2004 and received into the Anglican priesthood in 2018. Lorne has held assistant pastor, senior pastor, assistant priest, and Rector positions in six Lutheran and Anglican parishes over his 17 years of ordained ministry. Prior to joining St. Philip's in 2022, he was Rector of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Edmonton.
Alongside his ordained ministry, Rev. Lorne has been on the board of a large Anglican Senior’s residence, held advisor and sessional lecturer positions at Concordia Seminary, was for three years the General Secretary of the Roman Catholic/Lutheran Church of Canada Ecumenical Dialogue hosted jointly between Newman Theological College and Concordia, and has served on a variety of committees regarding liturgy, worship, and church music.
Rev. Lorne has also been an organist and church musician for nearly 33 years, and has held various positions as organist, music director, and choir accompanist.
