Since reaching $20,000 in the Refugee fund, we have committed through the Diocesan Refugee Unit to sponsor a Refugee family, the Zirak family from Iraq, now in Trukey; we are awaiting clearance from Immigration, refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to submit the application. Thanks to your generous support we exceeded the half-way point to our $40,000 goal very quickly and as of June 17 the St. Philip’s Refugee Fund stands at $24,250. Of course we have not reached the final goal, so donations are still requested. Cheques should be made payable to St. Philip’s with “Refugee Fund” marked on the envelope, not just on the memo line.
