Construction begins!
St. Philip’s is planning a Courtyard revitalization! This project will see the installation of an accessible elevator, as well as a revitalization of pathways and landscaping. Our stairs and ramps will be brought up to current code. This revitalization is projected to run June 2 – late September, 2025.
This work will improve accessibility to the Sanctuary, Chapel, Garden Room, Gym, Fireside Room, Kitchen, and Washrooms. The project will be phased and there will be access, including accessible access, to the church building at all stages.
We thank you for your patience with the regular construction / project noise that will occur during the week within the hours permitted by Vancouver City Bylaws. Project work is not currently planned for the weekends. A few parking spots in front of the church will be reserved for construction vehicles.
Updates will be shared with all building users and congregants, and clear signage will be posted to help keep things operating smoothly at St Philip’s during this project.
Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with us: 604-224-3238 or manager@stpdunbar.com.
We look forward to the courtyard’s completion and a celebration in the new space!
Progress to fund the Courtyard Accessibility Project is moving ahead. As of April 2025, we report with gratitude that Parishioners have contributed $157,800 and $50,000 of grants have been secured.
While the St. Philip's Endowment Fund assures the costs can be covered, all Parishioners are invited to contribute so we draw only what is needed from the Endowment Fund - thereby preserving funds for future projects.
Donations can be directed to St. Philip’s Anglican Church, with a note / memo specifying “Courtyard Accessibility Project”. Also, there are tax advantages to donating securities; click on "Why Donate Securities" for the benefits of this approach - including the required form and a detailed example.
Special opportunities to contribute to the Courtyard Project are coming soon. Stay tuned!
This project is supported by the community of St. Philip's, The Diocese of New Westminster, and The Anglican Foundation of Canada.
